Salt for Rs 150/kg, Sugar Rs 200/kg in Arunachal Pradesh

Believe it or not, there is a valley in India where retired soldiers and their families pay Rs 200 for a kilogram of sugar and Rs 150 for an equal amount of salt, that too if it is available. This desolated and isolated region is Vijaynagar, nestled in the Himalayas on the India-Myanmar Border in Arunachal Pradesh, which takes around seven to 10 days to reach on foot through dense forests.
