This Train Runs On Virtual Tracks
by Anthony FalcoThe world’s first virtual train track made its debut in Zhuzhou City, China. The Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) uses sensors to run along a white dotted line. It uses tires, so it resembles a bus more than a train. The ART can carry up to 307 passengers and its battery life allows it to go over 15 miles on a 10-minute charge. A 4-mile “track” will be built in Zhuzhou City and is expected to open in 2018.
