MSNBC beat Fox News in prime time ratings for first time in 17 years

The last time that MSNBC beat out Fox News for the number one rating in prime time cable news, George W. Bush was just elected president for the first time. The numbers from May show incredibly favorable returns for MSNBC, thanks in large part to Rachel Maddow, who appears in the 9 p.m. slot. MSNBC had already topped Fox News in the key 25-54 demographic in April but managed to claim the top spot overall for the month of May.
