The host of a CNN show focused on spirituality and faith-based groups has lashed out at President Trump for tweeting about his travel ban in response to the recent terror attack in London.
Reza Aslan, host of the show “Believer,” tweeted about the president Saturday, “This piece of s__t is not just an embarrassment to America and a stain on the presidency. He's an embarrassment to humankind.”
His post was in direct response to a message Trump had tweeted, stating, “We need to be smart, vigilant and tough. We need the courts to give us back our rights. We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!”
Less than two weeks ago, a federal appeals court had rejected the administration’s revised version of the "travel ban" in the latest of a string of judicial rulings against the order.
Aslan continued to criticize Trump on Saturday, replying to an NBC News tweet which stated, “Pres. Trump has used Twitter to share news report on London incident.  We aren't relaying president's retweet, as the info is unconfirmed.”
The message was referring to Trump’s reposting of a reportedly unsubstantiated Drudge Report tweet about the London attack.
Aslan wrote in response, “Translation: the president is a man baby that must be ignored in times of crisis.”
Aslan also retweeted someone else’s reaction to the NBC post which noted, “Every single American should be embarrassed that a news organization had to issue this statement about the President of the United States.”
The president is also being accused of trying to capitalize on the London tragedy by pushing his travel-related executive order; Cecillia Wang with the American Civil Liberties Union tweeted, “We need to be outraged when the president exploits a terrible violent crime to push his discriminatory and illegal policy.”
