Lebanon Bans Gal Gadot's "Wonder Woman"

Wonder Woman is expected to be one of the biggest films this summer, but Lebanon has officially banned the movie just hours after it was due to premiere in Beirut and following a campaign against its lead actress Gal Gadot.

For those of you who don’t know, Lebanon is officially at war with Israel and the two countries have been through a number of wars.

The Wonder Woman ban is in accordance with a decades old law that boycotts Israeli products – and Gal Gadot was born in Israel.

The ban – which was issued by the minister of interior and has been relayed to the distribution company – also bars Lebanese citizens from traveling to Israel or having contact with Israelis.

Funny enough, an executive with a Cinema chain was planning to show the film in 16 of its 18 theatres around the country… but it has now been removed.

Gadot has already earned acclaim for landing the rare leading role for a woman in a super hero movie, but she has yet to address the ban.
