Trump signs waiver to keep U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv

President Donald Trump signed a waiver this morning to keep the U.S. Embassy in Israel in Tel-Aviv, at least for the next six months. The 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act stated that the U.S. recognized Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, requiring the U.S. embassy to move there from Tel Aviv. Every president since 1995 has signed the waiver, delaying the move, though Trump promised on the campaign trail to move it "fairly quickly" if he was elected. Since both Palestine and Israel view Jerusalem as the capital of their respective countries, moving the embassy to Jerusalem would be officially siding with Israel, further increasing tensions in the area. “If this is the decision, to transfer the embassy to Jerusalem, it will not help peace and we hope it doesn’t happen,”
