Google Shares Map Of America's 'Most Misspelled Words'

Google recently published a state-by-state map of the nation’s biggest spelling uncertainties.

Though we live in an age of spell-check and auto-correct, there are times when we actually need to know how to spell.
Many turn to Google in such moments, and, on Tuesday, the search engine shared what it knows about the nation’s biggest spelling questions, publishing a map showing each state’s most common query.
Some state’s word woes are fully understandable, like Connecticut and West Virginia’s confusion about how supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is actually written.
Others are, honestly, more than a little surprising.
Wisconsin’s most searched spelling tip was for ‘Wisconsin.’ California, the land of beautiful vistas, beautiful beaches, and beautiful people apparently gets tripped up when it comes time to spell ‘beautiful.’ Other states including Minnesota, Kentucky, Ohio, and New York, also had troubles with the word.
Some of Google’s results are actually quite insightful, telling tales of the misery those in many places are feeling. For people in Washington, Michigan, Alabama and Maine the word of most concern was 'pneumonia,' while those in New Hampshire often inquired about how to accurately pen ‘diarrhea.’
Notably, in making its map, Google inadvertently proved how tough spelling can be.
According to KOMO, in the original version of the visual survey it misspelled ‘ninety,’ which, incidentally, is also a tricky word in Washington, D.C.
