French President Macron grills Putin on LGBTQ rights

France's new president Emmanuel Macron questioned Russian President Vladimir Putin on human rights during their meeting Monday. The two leaders discussed the rights of the LGBTQ community in Russia, including the crackdown on gay men in the Russian republic of Chechnya. "I emphasized to President Putin...how important it is for France to respect all people, all minorities...We spoke about the cases of LGBT people in Chechnya... I told President Putin what France is expecting regarding this issue, and we agreed to regularly check on this subject," Macron Macron noted Putin told him he started initiatives in regard to the situation in Chechnya.
