Hillary Clinton has revealed her thoughts about the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.
On Friday, New York magazine released an interview with her which was conducted on May 10, one day after Comey’s dismissal.
She is quoted as saying, “I am less surprised than I am worried.”
Clinton continued, “Not that he shouldn’t have been disciplined. And certainly the Trump campaign relished everything that was done to me in July and then particularly in October.”
She added, “...having said that, I think what’s going on now is an effort to derail and bury the Russia inquiry, and I think that’s terrible for our country”
Others have also speculated that President Trump fired Comey over the FBI's investigation into ties between his campaign associates and Russia despite the White House’s initial claims that the move was based on Comey's poor handling of Clinton’s email scandal.
In fact, the president told NBC’s Lester Holt that the decision was based, in part, on Comey being a “showboat” and his investigation into “this Russia thing.”
Then on May 19, the New York Times reported, citing inside sources, that Trump discussed Comey's firing with the visiting Russian officials and told them he “faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off."
