Jon Stewart and HBO put the axe to possible animated show

There is some bad news for fans of Jon Stewart and HBO this morning. Stewart and HBO have been attempting to put together an "animated project" for almost two years but officially called it off last night. "HBO and Jon Stewart have decided not to proceed with a short form digital animated project." We all thought the project had great potential, but there were technical issues in terms of production and distribution that proved too difficult given the quick turnaround and topical nature of the material." The silver-lining is that the project was scrapped in favor of other projects with Stewart, which HBO hopes to announce soon.
