Critics are drowning 'Baywatch' in bad reviews

'Baywatch' starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron was supposed to be a bit hit this summer but critics refuse to throw it a lifeline. Directed by 'Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon, 'Baywatch' isn’t the most flagrant offender in our current TV-to-movie scourge, but it’s not good. Worse, it’s not very funny. This 'Baywatch' has its share of hilarious moments but never fully commits to the absurd, and even the cleverest jokes get so many callbacks, they’re beating a dead seahorse. "Make no mistake: 'Baywatch' is dead on arrival. A summer franchise movie that can’t decide if it wants to be a hard-R bawdy comedy, a d-bag-comes-of-age tale or a fairly unironic reboot of the glossy TV show (which ran from 1989-2001), 'Baywatch' fails at all three..." "'Baywatch' is a crushing disappointment and a waste of quite a bit of talent. It is technically a comedic farce based on a dramatic television series, yet it is shockingly unfunny and hopelessly bland." The movie officially opens up nationwide on May 25th .
