The Department of Homeland Security revealed on Monday that over 600,000 foreigners who entered the United States with visas in 2016, stayed after their visa expired. Those 600,000 only make up a small percentage of the 50 million travelers who entered the country in 2016. Foreigners who stay past the end of their visa are thought to make up about 40 percent of the the undocumented immigrants in the United States. "Identifying overstays is important for national security, public safety, immigration enforcement, and processing applications for immigration benefits,"
