Over a Thousand Pilgrims Stranded After Massive Landslide in Uttarakand

Over one thousand Char Dam pilgrims were stranded on May 19 after a massive landslide on a national highway in Northern India’s Uttarakhand.The Times of India reported the landslide damaged a 200-foot stretch of the highway, and despite the scale of it, there were no reported injuries.The landslide left at least a thousand pilgrims stranded in the surrounding towns and villages, according to an NDTV report. They were advised by authorities to remain in place until the roads were cleared or alternative passageways could be arranged.Hindustan Times reported the pilgrims were on their way to Badrinath temple.
