2016 Sun Belt Baseball Championship: UL Lafayette vs Arkansas State Game 12 Highlights

The No. 1 seed UL Lafayette advanced to its fourth consecutive Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship final with a 17-10 victory against No. 8 seed Arkansas State on Saturday at Bobcat Ballpark.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (40-19) will face the No. 5 seed Georgia Southern tomorrow for the Sun Belt championship at 1 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by ESPN3 and available on the WatchESPN app. No. 8 seed Arkansas State (29-29) is eliminated from the tournament.

Arkansas State put six runs on the scoreboard in its first at bat, but the Ragin’ Cajuns rallied with 13 runs combined in the third, fourth and fifth innings to gain the advantage.

UL Lafayette’s No. 8 and No. 9 hitters, respectively, led the way offensively as senior Nick Thurman had three hits and five RBI while junior Alex Pinero went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Senior Kyle Clement fell a home run short of the cycle while sophomore Steven Sensley blasted his fifth home run of the season.

A combined 10 pitcher appeared in the game. UL Lafayette starter, sophomore Evan Guillory, gave up five earned runs on four hits and did not record an out. His counterpart, Arkansas State sophomore Bo Ritter, went 2 2/3 and allowed four earned runs on five hits.
