Firefighters Extinguish Blaze After Car Hits Pedestrians at Times Square

At least one person was killed and 19 were injured when a car crashed into a sidewalk in New York City’s Times Square on Thursday, May 18, according to the city’s fire department.The car caught fire after bollards brought it to a halt at the corner of 7th Avenue and 45th Street. This video shows firefighters extinguishing the blaze.The driver of the car was arrested at the scene. He was identified by local media as a 26-year-old Hispanic male from the Bronx who had two previous arrests for driving while intoxicated. ABC7 reported that he was being tested for alcohol.
