Scale of Elk City Tornado Destruction Captured in Aftermath Video

A tornado caused significant damage to homes in Elk City, Oklahoma, as seen in this video from May 17. The previous day a tornado spun through the city killing at least one person and injuring dozens, as reported by local TV station KOCO News 5.At least 40 homes were destroyed and another 50 to 75 homes were heavily damaged, according to KOCO News 5.Oklahoma station News 9 reported 53-year-old Gene “Bo” Mikles, Jr. was killed when his car was picked up by the wind and dropped.A NWS thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warning remained in effect for the region on May 18.This footage, from May 17, shows destroyed buildings south of Elk City from the vantage point of a car.
