LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS — A man in Arkansas has been arrested for killing three people, including a sheriff’s deputy on Thursday after a five-hour standoff with law enforcement.
The deceased sheriff’s deputy has been identified as 46-year-old Lieutenant Kevin C. Mainhart of Yell County sheriff’s department. Mainhart was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle believed to be linked to a disturbance call at a Gum Springs residence on Thursday morning.
Other officers arrived the residence and found two female bodies outside the home. The suspect, later identified as 32-year-old James Bowden, held a hostage when he barricaded himself in the home. The hostage was allowed to leave about 30 minutes before Bowden was arrested, ArkansasOnline reported.
Bowden was arrested on Thursday afternoon after a five-hour standoff. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to be transported to the Conway County jail. He will be charged with three counts of capital murder.
