This Photographer Turns Toxic Dumps Into Abstract Art
  • 7 years ago
by Andrew CaringiJ Henry Fair turns toxic waste sites into beautiful images. His latest book, Industrial Scars, shows the environmental cost of our consumption-based economy. The stunning aerial photos are made to look like abstract art. “I make beautiful pictures of terrible things,” says Fair, “in hopes of getting people to consider what they’re seeing, and to think about their involvement.” Every photograph in Fair’s book appears alongside explanations of the processes depicted. Fair hopes that his art will help people make better purchase decisions and perhaps even influence environmental policy making.
