Foreign tourists throw down on Bali street

BALI, INDONESIA — Video of a barechested showdown between two foreign tourists on street in Bali, Indonesia has gone viral there. The warriors faced off just before daybreak on Sunday, May 7.

Their tough-talking, possibly while quite drunk, gradually attracted a large crowd, most of whom seemed eager to watch them throw down.

Video of the event was filmed and uploaded to facebook shortly afterward.

According to local media, the man in the blue shorts is a Swiss national named Tikes.

The identity of his inked and skin-headed opponent, isn’t yet clear. Local residents and expats speculate he’s an Australian man, who people are calling Mr. X.

One witness says just before the “fight”, Mr. X had been ejected from a nearby nightclub. Humiliated and and alone on the curb, Mr. X ran into Tikes — they’d met before, and they don’t like each other. The fight was on.

Those men in the black and white check sarongs are members of Bali’s traditional neighborhood security personnel.

Normally they’d try and prevent something like this, but they seem to be enjoying the show. Instead, other tourists and local women are left to try and descalate the situation.

But after 10 minutes of footwork and showmanship, the fighters fail to throw a single serious punch. And in the end, they drop their fists and hug it out.

The whole thing might have just been an act. We really can't’ tell. Either that, or they’re happy drunks.
