Are your painkillers putting you at risk?

According to a new study, even over-the-counter doses of painkillers may actually be ramping up your risk of heart attack. Common painkillers increase chances of experiencing a heart attack by an average of 20 to 50 percent, in comparison to someone not taking the drugs. While there was an association in the findings, the painkillers were not found to be a direct cause of heart attack. The group of drugs includes ibuprofen, diclofenac, celecoxib and naproxen, which help relieve pain or fever due to a variety of causes.
