Liberal Moon Jae-in wins South Korean election: Exit polls

Exit polls showed that South Korean voters have chosen liberal politician Moon Jae-in to be their next president. Polls put Mr Moon on 41.4%, with his nearest challenger, conservative Hong Joon-Pyo, on 23.3%. Moon Jae-in is expected to bring a more conciliatory approach toward North Korea. Moon's election would end months of political turmoil in South Korea, following the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye over an extensive corruption scandal.
