Commemorations to mark the end of WWII across Europe

Country’s across Europe are marking the 72nd anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.

In the Czech Republic Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka laid a wreath at the Vitkov National Memorial in Prague.

In the Polish capital Warsaw a sombre ceremony marked the occasion.

Poland suffered heavily during the war and the subsequent Cold War.

As many as six million Poles died during World War Two.
