Police Officer Accused of Using Excessive Force on High Schooler

A police officer is accused of using excessive force when handling a student at Woodland Hills High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 3.Civil rights attorney Todd Hollis, who represents Que’chawn Wade, 14, released surveillance footage from the school on Tuesday, May 2, as part of the court proceedings. The footage shows officer Steve Shaulis from Churchill Police Department pull Wade by his collar after the teen “called him a vile name,” according to Hollis. Wade said he was punched and lost a front tooth, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.Wade is facing a resisting arrest charge in juvenile court, according to TribLIVE.Hollis released another video from March 3, 2015, showing Officer Shaulis’s encounter with another Woodland Hills student, Ahmad Williams, when he was the school’s resource officer. He can be seen putting a teenager in a headlock. TribLIVE said Shaulis reportedly used a stun gun during the incident. The teen was also accused of resisting arrest but was later acquitted on the charge.
