Pilot Rescued After Helicopter Crashes Into Porirua Harbour

A helicopter pilot was plucked from Porirua Harbour after the BK117 twin-engine aircraft crashed into shallow water on Tuesday, May 2.Emergency services were called and he was airlifted from the helicopter, which had landed in shallow water, Newshub reported.The pilot, Rick Lucas, told stuff.co.nz he had trouble undoing his seat belt after the “significant impact”, but eventually managed to climb from the cabin.
