US Marine Task Force Southwest Takes Over Command in Afghanistan

US Marine Corps unit Task Force Southwest took over command of the Helmand Province advisory mission in Afghanistan from Army unit Task Force Forge in a ceremony on April 29.Task Force Southwest is a unit of around 300 Marines and sailors who will support NATO’s Resolute Support mission to train, advise and assist the Afghan National Army 215th Corps and 505th Zone National Police in the fight against the Taliban, according to a press release on the Resolute Support website.
