Heavy Rain Inundates Southern Illinois Towns

Heavy rain in Williamson County, Illinois, over 24 hours triggered flooding in low lying areas, including Marion, on Saturday, April 29. The water covered roads, making many impassible.Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick warned in a press release of many roads being under water and that water levels would continue to rise even though the rain had left the area. He asked people to stay off the roads if possible, saying the large number of flooded areas was preventing officials from posting “road closure” signs on every road that should not be driven through.
