France elections: Le Pen steps down as National Front leader

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen announced she is stepping down as the leader of the National Front party. With less than two weeks left before the final runoff vote, the move comes as Len Pen attempts to appeal to a wide range of voters. "Tonight, I am no longer the president of the National Front. I am the presidential candidate," Le Pen said on French TV. Le Pen has previously tried to distance herself from comments made by her father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, who founded the party before being ousted in 2015.
