Webisode 14: The (Odd Future) of Hip Hop | Dead End Hip Hop
  • 7 years ago
Hip hop is an interesting place. On one end you have Lil B. On the other end you have Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All or OFWGKTA. Each are on different end of the hip hop spectrum. Last week we covered Lil B. This week, we continue our look at some of hip hop's newest buzz acts with Odd Future.

Odd Future is indeed odd. They burst on the scene out of seemingly nowhere beefing with entities such as 2dopeboyz, B.o.B. and Steve Harvey. For whatever reason. Led by Tyler the Creator, now they are everywhere appearing in mainstream publications such as the New York Times, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone. They are not mainstream.

They have recently started their own label, Odd Future Records, in which the own complete control and direction distributed through Red Distribution, a Sony company. It only makes sense since they have such a different style that if a corporation was to attempt to mess with their "secret sauce", Odd Future wouldn't have one.

So here we go as we give you the Dead End Hip Hop perspective of what Odd Future is or how they fit into hip hop. No politics. No BS. Just Dead End Hip Hop.

Let us know what you think about Odd Future after you hear Dead End Hip Hop's thoughts. Do you love them or hate them? Good for hip hop? Bad for hip hop? Not hip hop?
