Will Smith in talks to play the magical role of the Genie

Will Smith may be able to grant fan’s wishes by playing the Genie in Disney’s live-action version of ‘Aladdin.’ The actor has reportedly been in talks for playing the character in the Guy Ritchie reboot of the 1992 animated film. Smith will be following the footsteps of the late comedian Robin Williams, who lent his voice to the Genie in the original film. Sean Bailey, Disney’s head of motion picture production, says the new version will be a “highly energized” musical. The live-action version of ‘Aladdin’ will begin filming this summer in the U.K.
