Activists protested Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt during a visit to a superfund site in East Chicago, Indiana, on Wednesday, April 19.They wanted Pruitt to know how EPA cuts could affect the health and safety of their community, according to a report.Last year approximately 1,000 residents in the West Calumet Housing Complex were ordered to relocate, the report said. Another 3,000 residents living in Zone 2 and 3 of the superfund site were not told to relocate.Rumors have circulated Pruitt plans to cut the nearby Chicago EPA office and move it to Kansas, but a report stated he had no plans to visit the office and could instead attend a Cubs game.
