Study Says 17 Million US Adults Have 'Hidden' High Blood Pressure
  • 7 years ago
According to a new study, over 17 million American adults may have "masked hypertension," which is blood pressure that tends to be higher outside of the medical clinic environment. Dr. Kevin Marzo, a heart specialist who reviewed the findings, said this week that the best way to spot masked hypertension is "either with self-monitoring or a wearable blood pressure monitor." For the study's findings, a team led by Dr. Joseph Schwartz of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y., analyzed data from a national U.S. government survey on nutrition and health.
