Two U.S. Secret Service officers have reportedly been fired after an intruder was found roaming the White House grounds for more than 15 minutes last month.

According to NBC News, one of the officers had been posted near the Treasury building while another was tasked with monitoring East Executive Avenue.
CNN adds that both were relative rookies with less than a year of experience in the job.
The incident occurred on March 10 when 26-year-old Jonathan Tran made his way onto the White House grounds by jumping over a fence.
He was eventually arrested near the South Portico entrance and was found to have a backpack containing two cans of Mace and a letter to President Trump, among other items.
Trump was inside at the time and notified of the intrusion.
Tran has since been released from jail but is being tracked with a monitoring device until his case moves forward, notes UPI.
The Secret Service meanwhile, has issued a statement about the firings, saying, “We do not comment on personnel actions. However, all Secret Service personnel are held to the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.”
There has been speculation that more agency staff could be dismissed over the incident.
