Canada introduces legislation to legalize marijuana

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the government will legalize recreational pot use in Canada as of July 1, 2018. Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould alluded that the legislation would be introduced in the springtime, with an anonymous source confirming the week of April 10th. Raybould promised the legislation would legalize but also strictly regulate and restrict access to marijuana. In order to meet our commitment to legalize, the legislation will need to pass through the parliamentary process in a timely fashion. - Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould Under the new laws, adults would be able to carry 30 grams of pot and grow up to 4 of their own marijuana plants.
