Jeff Sessions Announces Tougher ‘Trump Era’ Immigration Guidelines

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has indicated that there would be a renewed crackdown on undocumented immigrants during what he has called the “Trump era.”
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions indicated there will be tougher crackdowns on undocumented immigrants during what he called the “Trump era,” reports ABC News.
He made the comments during a speech at a border checkpoint in Nogales, Arizona on Tuesday.
Sessions said, “For those that continue to seek improper and illegal entry into this country, be forewarned: This is a new era. This is the Trump era.”
He added, “The lawlessness, the abdication of the duty to enforce our immigration laws and the catch and release practices of old are over.”
The attorney general went on to announce judicial reforms including a streamlined hiring process to “put 50 more immigration judges on the bench this year and 75 next year.”
He also announced new guidelines for federal prosecutors. They are now required to pursue charges related to the “transportation or harboring of aliens,” repeated attempts to cross the border after removal, document fraud or identity theft, and assault against an officer.
