Lena Dunham is Endometriosis-Free After Fifth Surgery
  • 7 years ago
Good news for Lena Dunham! The Girls star is finally physically healthy and endometriosis free after undergoing her fifth surgery in the last year.

According to People magazine, Lena needed to go through operations to move her ovaries away from her rectal wall in order to end her chronic pain.

She reportedly writes in her Lenny Letter, “My surgery went off without a hitch… Between my surgeries and hormonal intervention, I was disease-free. That doesn’t mean it can never return, but for now… I will be healthy.”

Still, Lena won’t be totally free from her pain. She goes on to explain, “My pain – physical – distracted from my deeper pain – emotional, spiritual – and became the ultimate excuse. I had two modes: working and hurting. I was convinced there was nobility in it.”

Now, she hopes with the disease behind her, she can help herself and others focus on healing emotionally as well. She says, “Pain and illness defined a time in my life.” Hopefully, Lena will be able to emerge healthier in all aspects of her life.
