State Emergency Service volunteers and a Gold Coast community came together on April 2, to pull a family to safety from the roof of a building that was swept away by floodwaters.The incredible rescue began around 4.30 am in Luscombe, Queensland, where overflow from the Albert River had submerged most of the homes and vehicles. The ABC reported a family of four were atop a house when three SES volunteers navigated the floodwaters in pitch dark to reach them.The owner of the video, Jo Campbell, told Storyful the boat was caught on debris and neighbours had braved the water to free the vessel.After rescuers loaded the mother, her two children, their grandfather and their two dogs onto the boat, the building was swept away by the tides and carried down Halls Road. Campbell said the building had an upper floor that was used as guest accommodation, and a lower level that was a barn used to house chickens and a pair of horses. The chickens drowned, but the horses were rescued.This video shows the building floating away and crashing through trees and other obstacles.
