Peruvian Navy Deploys Dinghies to Reach Residents Stranded by Floodwaters

The Peruvian Navy pushed a dinghy across floodwaters to reach a group of people stranded in Piura, northwest Peru, on Tuesday, March 28.People were visibly distressed, with one woman seen crying in this footage. A male voice could be heard saying: “Tranquilo,” or “calm down.”A new round of flooding has hit northern Peruvian since Monday, after the Piura river burst its banks following a weekend of heavy rains. The flooding prompted the evacuation of more than 500 people, while hundreds more still awaited rescue. At least four people drowned.More rain was expected to fall in the region on Wednesday.
