Canyons Dive Site in Puerto Galera Philippines

Have you ever been to the Canyons Dive Site in Puerto Galera Philippines?
Located along the famous Verde Island Passage and known as the “Center of the Center of marine biodiversity of the world” lies under, a blue water descent, the dive site called “Canyons”. This site is one of the most famous and well visited dive sites by advanced divers in South East Asia. Located in West Escarceo, Puerto Galera, Philippines and about 20 minutes from BADLADZ Dive Resort by boat.
The current usually present in this site so we recommend this dive for experienced and advanced divers only.
The stronger the current, the more this site is alive with Shoals of Giant Trevallies, different species of Sweetlips, Snappers, Bat fish can be seen here.
As you cruise along with the current, It will bring you to the huge split rocks called the “Canyons”. Hard and soft corals, giant barrel sponges, gorgonian sea fan and whip corals are abundant and grows densely all over the reef.
Smaller tropical fishes like butterfly fish, damsel fish and anthias are all over the place when the current is strong. You can reunite with your group into the old Anchor about 1.5 meters in length and this is where your exit point is. Watch your depth as the down current can sweep you back down.
The strategic location and formation of three “Canyons” is in the northern tip of Puerto Galera’s “Y ‘ shape peninsula and exposed to currents, Coral reef are very healthy as the nutrients that are washed by are strains for food by marine species that grows and inhabit here.
This is a great dive spot in Puerto Galera, definitely recommend checking it out.
