Shocking footage has emerged from China purportedly showing the aftermath of what's been called a "toilet stampede" at a primary school which killed at least one child.

According to reports, a large number of students were gathered in a toilet during a morning break at the school in Puyang, Henan Province, when others began to try and push their way in.

One of the walls then reportedly collapsed as a result, leading to the deaths of at least one child. Other reports suggest two were killed.

More than 20 students were also injured in the crush and they've been taken to hospital for treatment.

The official cause of the incident is still being investigated.
