Netflix is changing its five-star rating system to a new thumbs up/thumbs down option. Netflix VP of Product Todd Yellin Last year, Netflix conducted a beta test for the 'thumbs' systems. The company reported that over 200 percent more ratings were logged with the new system, which was the ultimate factor in changing the ratings. Netflix will also add a percentage matching system, which will use percentages to show how likely a subscriber will enjoy a show or movie.
