Act of kindness Police officer sits in the cold with lost dogs until help arrives

A moment of kindness in Kansas City spread like wildfire on social media.

A Kansas City police officer, who did not want to be identified, is being hailed as a hero for saving two dogs who became separated from their owners.

"As I pull up, it's a motorcycle cop sitting in the cold grass with two stray, or what appears to be stray dogs, just sitting there petting them," Debbie Davis told WDAF.

As it turns out, the dogs escaped the safety of their home in south Kansas City.

The officer spotted them and waited until a shelter could pick them up.

"It's cold. Most people wouldn't look twice at some dogs running around," she said.

Debbie shared the photo on Facebook and thousands saw it.

The dogs' owners, Austin and Ashley Mozingo, went to the KC Pet Project to look for their little escape artists.

“I think that’s an awesome story,” Austin said. “It’s good to know there are still police officers out there who still enjoy helping out the community, especially in helping out such sweet dogs.”
