Mumps outbreak across the U.S. worries doctors
  • 7 years ago
The Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC) reported over a thousand cases of mumps in the U.S. for 2017. According to the CDC, 1,242 cases of mumps have been counted across the nation so far this year. Health officials are concerned over the high number, considering that there were 5,311 cases reported in 2016. The virus is typically spread through high school or college students who stay in tight quarters. Doctors urge children to receive two doses of the MMR vaccine, which is enough protection against mumps.
