An avalanche hit a ski slope in Tignes in the French Alps on Tuesday although no one was hurt. Avalanches are powerful, dramatic and can be deadly. These sudden downhill snow slides are almost always triggered by vibrations, as those who later become their victims walk or ski close by, dislodging vast slabs of ice and snow.VIDEOGRAPHIC
