Bird flu found in popular chicken nugget brand
  • 7 years ago
A strain of bird flu was found in a chicken breeder flock on a farm used by Tyson Foods Inc. The farm in Tennessee’s Lincoln County, along with nearly 30 other farms in 6.2 mile radius, has been placed under quarantine. 73,500 birds will be culled and euthanized in attempt to stop the virus. This is the first case of highly pathogenic H7 avian influenza found in the U.S. this year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Tyson said in a statement that this case should not disrupt its chicken business.
