Epic truck crash: escaped convict fleeing from cops goes off road and airborne in truck

WEBSTER PARISH, LOUISIANA — An adult teen convict on the run for three weeks didn’t waste any time adding to his rap sheet, and inevitably failed at making a clean getaway.
Kevonte Austin, 18, escaped from a work release program on February 8. On February 28, Austin was riding in the passenger seat of a stolen Toyota Tacoma. The unnamed driver he was with was speeding down the highway, but was soon clocked at 78 mph by police. The two were pulled over for speeding, but while the driver spoke to an officer on the side of the road, Austin slid into the driver’s seat and bolted from the scene.
A car chase ensued, with the pickup truck reportedly reaching speeds of 115 mph. To put an end to his reckless driving, the authorities laid down spike strips ahead of him.
Incredible video footage shot by a bystander shows the truck’s tires burst before the vehicle went off road into a ditch, and then suddenly went airborne. The truck came crashing down on top of a parked car in a restaurant parking lot, with a woman inside. Luckily for the woman, she managed to get out of the way just in time, and miraculously avoided any injury.
Both Kevonte Austin and the driver have been taken into custody. Austin was previously in prison for violation of parole and car theft.
