It all started on February 21, when violent protests were held at Ramjas College in Delhi, India. The ABVP, a large Indian student organization, stoned a hall where two accused, anti-nationalist speakers were to present. Student Gurmehar Kaur started a social media campaign titled ‘I am not scared of ABVP.’ Her goal was to end the violent protests and protect the right to freedom of speech on Delhi University’s campus. Her movement was met with backlash by celebrity personalities, and she was even threatened with rape.
