What is spirulina? The algae that many nutritionists are calling the superfood of the future has been around forever and was perhaps used by the Aztecs and African natives. Jamie Vespa claims that dried spirulina contains 60-70% of pure and complete protein. This is why she also suggests it to be good for vegetarians and vegans. The algae contains calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamins A, E, and K. It supposedly boosts immunity, fights allergies, and reduces fatigue. Perhaps spirulina smoothies will replace coffee in the future as a morning energy source.
