Why an Oscar is surprisingly cheap

Winning an Oscar at the Academy Awards is such a big deal so it is surprising that the statue itself costs less than last night's dinner. Coinage, Time Inc.’s personal finance video company has revealed that the prestigious award costs only $10. Although the making of the statue costs $400, an Academy rule states that it must be offered to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the cheap price before it can be put up for bid.
