Aged 10 Hamilton approached McLaren boss Ron Dennis and said he wanted to race for the team.

Joined McLaren’s youth programme aged 13 and just 12 years on from first meeting Dennis made his F1 debut in 2007.

Hamilton became the then-youngest F1 world champion in 2008.

A switch to Mercedes in 2013 paid off by winning the 2014 and 2015 F1 world titles

Narrowly missed out on a third straight and fourth overall world title to Nico Rosberg in 2016 by 5 points.
