Peshawar Zalmi nearly pulled off an incredible win, thanks to a superb partnership between Shahid Afridi and Darren Sammy for the seventh wicket. Afridi in played the way everyone’s accustomed to seeing him play – smashing the ball all around the park. Sammy did not get going immediately, but once he was set, he too got a few crucial boundaries. In the end, it was not enough. Live Cricket Score, PSL 2017, Peshawar Zalmi vs Karachi Kings at Sharjah

With the top 6 failing miserably, there was a lot of pressure on Sammy and Afridi. There was no batting left after them and had to shoulder the responsibility of guiding their side home from 69 for 6 in 11.2 overs. They brought up their 50-run stand in just 32 deliveries. They eventually put on 70, before Sammy was caught at short fine leg for a well made 34 off 26. With Afridi still at the crease, Zalmi still had a chance. He got to his fifty in the final over off 27 deliveries, but his herculean effort was not enough to take his side home. He was dismissed with 2 balls left and 10 to get. The last batting pair could not get the job done.

Yung leg-spinner Usama Mir picked up a couple of wickets off the final over, when Zalmi needed 18 to win. He conceded one six, but struck twice off consecutive deliveries to hand his side a closely fought win.
Earlier, an unbeaten 51 from Shoaib Malik off just 27 deliveries took Karachi Kings to 174 for 4 in their 20 overs, after being put into bat. Four out of their top 5 made substantial contributions, but Chris Gayle, who batted at No. 3 today missed out yet again. The 72-run opening partnership between Kumar Sangakkara and Babar Azam set things up beautifully for the middle-order, who did not disappoint. However, Sangakkara and Azam were dismissed one after the other, but Malik and Ravi Bopara a useful stand of 44 for the fourth wicket to ensure that the Kings were back on track. Ifthkhar Ahmed, Shakib-al-Hasan and Imran Khan jr were the wicket-takers for the Zalmi.
